Ren’ai paid someone to take her across to Aang Memorial Island. This had been a very horrible morning for her. She had needed to go to work early, which was fine with her. It gave more time during the afternoon for other things, like training or hanging out with her friends. However, from the moment that she had woken up this morning, things had gone from bad to worse. Firstly, after the dark-haired young woman had woken up, she had stubbed her toe and thereby nearly set her room on fire. She had overcooked her breakfast, and then was almost late to work. The Firebender then had the busiest morning ever, and above all, got horrible and had also gotten hit on by some creepy old guy.
It had taken every ounce of patience that Ren’ai possessed not to send a fireball streaming towards his head, but while she didn’t like her job, it was her own money. She would hate to have to go back to her father and ask him to help buy her and Yuri’s bills. How lame was that, right? Of course, her boss had thought that she was over exaggerating and told her not to worry about the guy. She was not overly pretty she thought, though neither of her past boyfriends had complained about her looks, even though they had both thought she was a bit tomboyish. Sure, it had been over a year since her last boyfriend, but that didn’t mean that she was desperate or anything, far from it, actually. And she especially didn’t mean that she wanted some creepy old guy hitting on her.
Ren’ai walked onto Aang Memorial Island and looked around. She was meeting her friend, Tadashi, here. He was a good guy. Sure, she did not understand his wanting to be an Air Acolyte, but hey… to each their own, right? After all, she wanted to be a Probender, and some thought that wasn’t the best form of living. It didn’t matter to her, and if he wanted to be an Air Acolyte, that was fine with her. It was his life, and it was his decision however he wanted to live it. She didn’t have to understand, all she had to do was accept it. Besides, it made him happy, and of course, didn’t every friend want their friends to be happy? That’s what she thought. You were supposed to be happy if your friends were happy, and support them in anything they did – within reason, of course.
It didn’t seem as if Tadashi was here yet. She was still wearing her uniform, a pair of black pants, a white shirt, and an apron. Personally, Ren’ai hated it. It was horribly stuffy, in her opinion. Unfortunately, she hadn’t had time to go home and change if she was going to meet Tadashi. So, here she was, in her work uniform. Her long, black hair had needed to be up off her neck for work, so she put it in a bun. She was in the middle of taking her hair down when she saw her friend pull up. “Finally, you’re here,” she said. The Firebender honestly didn’t think he had been late, but she was frustrated. “I have had the worst day ever.” She finished taking her hair down, and threw it back into a ponytail.
“I stubbed my toe when I got up, had to stop myself from getting too upset so I wouldn’t burn my room down, burnt my breakfast, and then was nearly late to work,” Ren’ai said, telling him about the first part of her day. “Oh, but it didn’t stop there.” Her blue eyes had an angry glint in them, as she was still very frustrated. “We had the busiest day ever, my tips were horrible, and to top it all off, I got hit on by some creepy old dude.” The Firebender crossed her arms underneath her chest, a snarky smile crossing her face. “So, yeah, my day was horrible. How was your day?” She didn’t mean to take her frustrations out him, but she was upset right now, and hadn’t seen Yuri yet, so she had to vent to someone.
