IKKI

Age: 7
Occupation: Airbending student / Gossiper
Special Abilities: Airbending
Possible Spoilers? Maybe

Why do you think you'd be a good player for this character?
From the moment Ikki made her debut on the show I was hooked to this babbling airbender instantly. She’s full of energy and fun and I believe Ikki and I are somewhat alike in that sense, at least I hope so. I love spunky characters and next to her rambunctious little brother, Meelo, Ikki is perhaps the spunkiest person on Air Temple Island. I adore her curiosity and believe that I can transfer all the life and enthusiasm that Ikki gives us on the show into writing. I know that’s a big responsibility, but I believe that I can live up to the challenge. I haven’t had the opportunity to RP much as a child, however, the idea excites me. I mostly RP women in their late teens and early twenties, so a shift in perspective would benefit me and my writing greatly. I want to begin to interact with my inner child and I believe that I can do that best by RP’ing Ikki.

Please describe your understanding of this character's personality.
Ikki is a talkative little squirt and is always looking to put her two cents into conversations that probably have little or nothing to do with her. She likes being heard and probably suffers from the middle child syndrome of wanting all eyes on her. Naturally, the need for attention comes from being so young. The adults probably don’t bother with her too much since they understand this need. They also understand that Ikki enjoys being right about everything.

Ikki is extremely energetic and enjoys playing a little too much. Sometimes she lacks the concentration she needs during lessons with her father, but she makes up for it by being a daddy’s girl. Being closer in age to Meelo, Ikki finds herself in a lot of sticky situations. Although she adores her older sister there is a substantial difference between what each considers fun. Jinora enjoys having her head in books, while Ikki enjoys adventures and using her imagination to come up with all kinds of crazy situations and stories. At times this airbender seems a little ditzy, however, she is quite observant and knowledgeable in her own special way.

Ikki is extremely curious and never afraid to ask questions. She is not so good however at keeping her lip zipped. She is blunt at times, speaking before actually thinking, which in certain situations is extremely annoying. She is somewhat of a gossiper and it drives the people around her crazy, like Avatar Korra. Although Ikki is a handful she is a lovable little girl and a precious daughter with an intoxicating smile and giggle, though her angry face isn’t a sight for sore eyes. Ikki’s temper is something nobody wants to deal with. In the end, Ikki would do anything for her family and knows deep down in her heart that they would do the same for her in return.

In your own words, please write your character's history, taking into account the site plot.
Ikki is the youngest daughter of Tenzin and Pema, born three years after her older sister, Jionra, and two years before her younger brother, Meelo. She is the granddaughter of Avatar Aang and Katara and lives with her family on Air Temple Island just outside of Republic City. There she is both educated and trained by her father in the art of airbending and Air Nomad culture. Presently, she is anxiously waiting for the birth of her new baby brother, or sister.

Born and raised on Air Temple Island, Ikki knew little of the world until her father decided to take her to the compound where Avatar Korra lived. She was extremely excited to see her grandmother, interrupt Jinora’s conversation, and play with Meelo in the snow. She grew to like Korra and was disappointed that they had to leave her behind. When Korra arrived on Air Temple Island having completely disobeyed her father’s wishes, Ikki jumped and squealed with joy knowing that she had yet another person to play with and talk to. Since then Ikki is trying to help Korra through her struggles while simultaneously eavesdropping on the Avatar’s life. If there’s something Ikki doesn’t run out of it’s advice and breath.

Anything else you'd like to add?
Although she is not as advanced as her older sister, Ikki has come far in her airbending training and has illustrated that she is able to use a glider and ride an air scooter. Also, credit for the Ikki graphics goes to Piandao.org.

Roleplay Sample:
Where was mommy and daddy? She had something so important to tell them that it could not wait, because if it did wait she was going to explode into a thousand little pieces and she didn’t want that to happen, no thank you. Racing toward their bedroom she pushed open the door then squealed remembering she had forgotten her manners. Quickly she grabbed the knob and shut the door behind her counting to three. Knocking this time she pushed the door back open and pouted at the site of an empty bed. This was important, where’d they go! She stomped her foot against the hardwood floor then turned hastily on her heels and left their room.

If she didn’t find them soon they would all be doomed. Everyone on the island, and they’d all have to move to the South Pole where they’d build igloos, and stuff their faces with snow, and play with penguins, and maybe go swimming, and tell spooky stories, and eat nasty sea prunes, and throw up after eating the sea prunes, and die. She giggled. No not die, but sea prunes really sucked. Think Ikki, think, her mind growled. “Oh I know!” she screamed clasping her hands together and jumping high into the air. Delighted that she was so smart she took off and headed toward the Meditation Pavilion. When she was almost there she could see her mommy’s hair, which looked like hers, and her daddy’s bald head with her large, blue-gray eyes. Propelling herself forward with her airbending she launched herself into the gazebo and miraculously came to a complete stop before her parents.

Startled they asked her what was wrong and smiling she threw herself between them and wrapped her small arms around their necks. “I love you,” she whispered wiggling as they closed their embrace around her. Scurrying out of their arms she stood in front of them with a mischievous smirk on her lips and placed her hands on her little hips.

“Is that all you wanted to tell us?” Pema asked, her eyebrow arched and twitching slightly.

“Yes, oh wait no.” Scrunching her face like some of the lemurs do, Ikki finally remembered what was so important.

“Ikki,” her mother said drawing out the ee in her name.

“Meelo pooped, and some of it’s on the floor. They tried to clean it up, but it smelled really bad. And by they I mean the lemurs. Bye!”

I liked it.
What? Not enough detail? Okay, I greatly enjoyed how your prose felt like something Ikki would write. It had a kind of manic energy to it which made it not only enjoyable but delved into the character you portray as well. There was a fun innocence that I enjoyed.

There was a little bit of godmodding with Pema since she prompted Ikki to talk but other than that I thought it was worth approval.

I agree with Hangetsu. Yes, you did godmod Pema a bit, which normally I'm adverse to, but seeing as how I feel that you could have taken it out and it still would have made sense, I'm willing to overlook it. It was minor, after all. I know you will not do that in the RP boards, so I'm not worried about that.

Anyway, I liked it, too, so here you go:

Please PM when you've read this so I can move this. :)
